WORKSHOPS & PRESENTATIONS
We offer a variety of workshops and presentations. Here are a few of our most popular programs. All of our workshops are customized for the client. The programs are engaging, interactive and educational. All of our workshops and presentations can be delivered in person or virtually.
NAVIGATING UNCONSCIOUS BIAS
Presentation
This is an engaging 90 minute interactive presentation. The goal of the presentation is to provide a large group of participants with a base level of understanding and a common language regarding unconscious bias, inclusion and cultural competence. The participants will be encouraged to have discussions in small groups, with large group debriefs. We will engage and challenge them through guided conversations and case studies. The content is customized for each client. This presentation works well for groups of 50 – 150, with auditorium or classroom style seating; we recommend under 100 on virtual platform.
UNCONSCIOUS BIAS AWARENESS
Workshop
This workshop typically runs for 3.5 hours and the ideal number of participants is 20-36. The smaller group, and longer time, allows us to go deeper into the subject matter. The goals of this workshop are to increase our awareness of the impact of unconscious bias, to explore ways to promote inclusion and to develop cultural competence skills. We use small group discussions, case studies and experiential exercises to engage the participants. The workshop is customized for each group in the organization, with scenarios that could occur for participants and strategies that will mitigate bias and increase inclusion. It is highly interactive and engaging. When delivered virtually, the workshop is offered in two, 2-hour, segments.
MITIGATING BIAS IN HIRING
Workshop
The goals of this workshop are to understand the impact of unconscious bias in the recruiting and hiring process and to develop skills for mitigating bias in that context. This 2 hour workshop includes scenarios that could occur during interviews or the hiring process. The workshop also includes best practices for interviewing, including behavioral interviewing techniques.
PROMOTING INCLUSION
Workshop
This workshop typically runs for 3.5 hours and the ideal number of participants is 20-36. The goals of this workshop are to increase our understanding of the concepts of “privilege” and “unearned advantage/disadvantage;” to explore how we can use our places of privilege to be an ally to others; to strategize (and practice) how to have courageous and challenging conversations with colleagues at work; and to learn how to use microaffirmations to promote inclusion. We will utilize case studies and an experiential exercise to support our learning. The workshop will include scenarios that could occur in your organization. Participates will leave with concrete strategies that they can use. When delivered virtually, the workshop is offered in two, 2-hour, segments.
MITIGATING BIAS IN EVALUATIONS
Workshop
This workshop gives supervisors strategies for giving feedback (particularly across difference). We give guidance on “buzz words” and trends to look for across evaluations, to see if unconscious bias is present. We use case studies to show how unconscious bias might present itself during the evaluation process. This is a 90 minute – 2 hour workshop.
LEADING DIVERSE TEAMS
Workshop
This workshop is geared toward department leaders and managers. The goals of this workshop are to explore the challenges faced by managers and to develop strategies that enable participants to be better managers and thereby get the best from their teams. The workshop will be customized for your organization to reflect situations that arise for managers and staff. This workshop has an optional “coaching” component. Leaders and managers will be encouraged to engage in a series of individual coaching sessions, following the workshop, to cement their learning and to help them address specific issues.
SUCCEEDING IN A MAJORITY ORGANIZATION
Workshop & Coaching
Unconscious biases can make it challenging, for members of traditionally underrepresented groups, to succeed in an organization. The goal of this combination workshop and coaching package is to support and enhance the professional success of the participants. During the workshop, we will examine the impact of unconscious bias in the workplace and explore ways in which participants can enhance their skills and leverage their differences. Each participant will be encouraged to engage in a series of individual coaching sessions, following the workshop, to cement their learning and help them maximize their success.
